1 Cor 11:27
So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner [will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.]

1 Cor 11:29
For anyone who eats and drinks [without recognizing the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.]

Lastly Jesus said,

John 6:53-58
I tell you, unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man, [you have no life in you]. Whoever [eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life], and [I will raise him up at the last day]. For [My flesh is real food] and [My blood is real drink.] Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so also the one who [feeds on Me] will live because of Me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your fathers, who ate the manna and died, [the one who eats this bread will live forever.]

John 6:66
From that time on, many of His disciples turned back and no longer followed Him.

By the way, the way i think of works and faith is this: Works are a means to salvation, not a justification for salvation. Through works we are the extension of God. We are the branches to do God’s work (John 15:5).
